BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to a residential fire shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, on West Helen M Montgomery Avenue.
Rescue 2 was first on the scene and found a working fire on the first floor of a one-and-a-half-story wood-frame duplex. Firefighters from Rescue 2 began fire attack operations, while Engine 5 arrived and conducted a primary search of the structure. Truck 1 assisted with ventilation, and Engine 3 established a water supply.
Engine 4 was assigned as the Rapid Intervention Team, and Rescue 6 secured utilities and completed a secondary search.
One occupant was able to exit the home before fire crews arrived. LifeCare Ambulance personnel evaluated the individual on scene and released them without injury.
Battle Creek police also responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
