BCFD crews quickly performed fire control and helped residents shelter in place in their apartments. Some residents on the first floor had to be moved to the cafeteria until damage assessment was performed, so they could return to their apartments. There was a sprinkler that was activated on the seventh floor in the trash chute area.
Three residents suffered minor smoke inhalation, and were treated on scene and released by LifeCare Ambulance.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the BCFD Fire Marshal Division.
