BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Battle Creek Police responded to a call in the 1st block of Goguac Street shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, regarding two missing children.
Officers spoke with a 32-year-old Battle Creek woman who reported that her seven-year-old and one year-old children were missing from the 300 block of Hamblin Avenue.
The mother stated she left her home around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, and returned around midnight to find the children missing. However, evidence found on Hamblin Avenue indicated she returned home after 2 a.m. After an extensive search by the BCPD and Calhoun County Sherrif’s Office, officers located the children approximately three miles away at a family friend’s residence.
The children were safely turned over to family members. The mother was arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail for child neglect.
