More information: The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to the report of a fire at a large manufacturing facility, shortly after 4:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 21. Upon the BCFD's arrival, crews found a large volume of fire and black smoke coming from the roof of the facility. Engine 4 arrived, with the Battle Creek VA Medical Center Fire Department as mutual aid, and immediately began to apply water to the fire. Truck 1 and Bedford Charter Township Tower 5 were utilized to apply water to the fire and provide better access to the facility's roof. Rescue 2, Engine 3, Engine 5, Squad 6, and Rescue 6 were all utilized to provide water to the interior of the facility via portable master streams. LifeCare Ambulance also assisted on scene with rehab for the firefighters. The fire was brought under control after about an hour and a half after the BCFD had initially arrived on scene. No injuries were reported during the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the BCFD
