Police have taken the man into custody who had barricaded himself inside a home in the 100 block of Lathrop Avenue today.
Police initially responded to the home just before 3 p.m., and the man surrendered to police at 8 p.m.
As police continued trying to make contact with the man this evening, he fired several additional gunshots inside the house, then shot out the window at police. The shots did not hit anyone or any other home or property.
The police Emergency Response Team then released gas into the home, and the man came outside and surrendered to police.
Police took him into custody without further incident, and charges are pending against him.

Battle Creek Police negotiators are at the scene of a home in the 100 block of Lathrop Avenue in Post Addition, as the man inside experiences a mental health crisis.
Police responded just before 3 p.m. to the home. While outside, they heard a gunshot inside the house. The man came outside, slammed the door, then returned inside the house.
Since then, police have blocked the area around the home, and are trying to make contact with the man.
No one was injured by the gunshot, and police believe the man is alone in the house.
