BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City crews will complete excavation of a section of Knapp Drive, resulting in temporary lane closures and shifts along Capital Avenue SW, beginning Friday, April 26.
This excavation work is necessary to help city crews determine the cause of a reoccurring sinkhole near the intersection of Knapp Drive and Capital Avenue SW.
The section of Capital Avenue SW impacted by these temporary lane closures and shifts, as a result of the excavation work, is:
- Southbound lanes of Capital Avenue SW will be closed at Knapp Drive.
- Southbound Capital Avenue SW traffic will be shifted to the western-most northbound lane of Capital Avenue SW, creating one lane for northbound traffic and one lane for southbound traffic. Southbound traffic will then be shifted back to its normal lanes, just south of I-94.
Crews will begin this excavation work at 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, and expect the work to be completed by 7 a.m. Monday, April 29, with all temporary lane closures and shifts lifting at that time, as well.
Neighbors are reminded to be aware of and abide by any traffic-related signage in this area during the excavation work.
