BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City contractor crews began installation work on a new concrete driveway for the Battle Creek Fire Department’s Fire Station No. 1 this week, resulting in a temporary lane shift along Michigan Avenue.
In addition to the new concrete driveway, Fire Station No. 1 will also receive some minor storm repair, new drainage castings, and new metal steps in the rear of the building.
The following temporary lane shift will be in place along Michigan Avenue as a result of this project:
- Temporary lane shift along Michigan Avenue East in front of Fire Station No. 1, located at 195 Michigan Avenue E.
This temporary lane shift will allow for construction vehicles and crews to enter and exit the worksite safely. In addition, the sidewalk directly in front of Fire Station No. 1 will be closed during work hours. Neighbors are reminded to be aware of crews and equipment in the area.
Fire Station No. 1, including the BCFD administration offices, will remain open during this project.
Work hours will generally be from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. during the project. Crews expect the work to be wrapped up by the end of October, however adverse weather may cause delays.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during all work on our city’s infrastructure.
