BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Battle Creek Police responded Wednesday, Jan. 7, to a search warrant on Woodside Drive that resulted in the discovery of several deceased animals and the removal of others, as part of an animal neglect investigation.
Officers with the Battle Creek Police Department, assisted by the department’s Animal Control Unit, served the warrant at a property in Bedford Charter Township. During the search, police located several deceased dogs and one deceased cat.
In addition, 29 dogs and 15 cats, along with two horses, were removed from the property. The surviving animals have been placed in a secure location, where they are receiving veterinary evaluation and care.
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation remains ongoing and is expected to be submitted to the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office for review of potential criminal charges. No additional information is available at this time.
