BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Battle Creek Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance responded to the report of heavy, black smoke coming from the basement of a North McKinley Avenue home shortly before 7 p.m. yesterday, Monday, Nov. 3.
The BCFD's Car 3 and Rescue 2 arrived to find light smoke showing from the front door of the home. Rescue 2 stretched a hose line to the basement and quickly extinguished the fire that was located inside of a clothes dryer. Engine 3 and Truck 1 completed a primary search of the first and second floors, while Engine 4 assisted with ventilation of the home.
Thankfully, there were no injuries reported. The BCFD shared that the cause of the fire was determined to be a malfunctioning clothes dryer.
