BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Battle Creek Police responded early Sunday morning, Oct. 12, to a reported crash near Renton Road and Watkins Road.
Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle had struck a pedestrian and was unoccupied at the scene. LifeCare Ambulance and the Battle Creek Fire Department provided medical assistance, but the victim — a 36-year-old man — was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Battle Creek Police Department’s Road Patrol and Detective Bureau investigated the incident. On Sunday afternoon, officers located and arrested the driver — a 29-year-old man — who is being held at the Calhoun County Jail. He faces a charge of hit-and-run causing death and is awaiting arraignment.
