BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The Battle Creek Police conducted a tobacco sting operation on Thursday, Jan. 9, to ensure local businesses are complying with laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors.

The BCPD Community Fusion Center and Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) division visited 14 businesses throughout the city, where underage cadets attempted to buy tobacco products.

All 14 businesses refused to sell tobacco products to the underage cadets, according to Sgt. Cory Champlin.

The BCPD conducts periodic sting operations to ensure compliance with local and state laws and to protect Battle Creek youth.
