[ARCHIVED] Goguac Lake treatments scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 13

A map of Goguac Lake showing the treatment areas as varying colored and designed areas.

Another round of chemical weed treatment is planned around Goguac Lake today, Tuesday, Aug. 13.

The date could change if the weather is not suitable, or due to other factors. The lake treatment is coordinated by the city and the state Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE). Tuesday's treatment will be for nuisance native plants, Eurasian milfoil, wild celery, and cabomba.

The team applying the treatments will post signs in the treated areas of the lake asking neighbors and visitors to stay off the water in those areas for 24 hours. This is so the treatments have time to reach the intended weed species in the water and work effectively.

If a person does go into the lake while the treatment signs are posted, we recommend showering after leaving the lake. The treatments are tested and determined to be safe for this use in the lake.

You can see a lake map showing the various treatments near the following areas: Lucille Street and Hiawatha Drive; Capital Avenue SW; George B Place and Breezy Bluff Street; Waupakisco Beach and Honey Lane; Sunnyside Drive; Woodrow Avenue South and Sherman Drive; Lakeshore Drive; Country Club Drive; Lynwood Lane and Lynwood Drive; Bayshore Drive and Bay Pointe Street.
