Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire at McDonald's on West Columbia Avenue shortly after 5:30 a.m. Monday, April 15. Engine 4 arrived to find smoke coming from the roof vents. After further investigation, a small fire was located in the grease fryer area of the kitchen. Employees had used two fire extinguishers prior to the BCFD's arrival. Engine 4 used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the remainder of the fire. Rescue 6 went to the roof to check for fire extension. The fire was contained to the fryer area and the smoke was ventilated from the restaurant. The fire had started behind the fryer equipment. The Calhoun County Public Health Department was notified of the incident. No injuries were reported.
