BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City contractor crews will complete final stages of work on the Union Street bridge project resulting in a temporary lane shift along Union Street this week, beginning today, Tuesday, Sept. 19.
Contractor crews will be installing a permanent fence along the west side of the Union Street bridge and will be applying a surface treatment to portions of the new bridge structure.
The specific section of Union Street that will be impacted by the temporary lane shift is:
- Union Street South, between East Van Buren Street and Michigan Avenue
There is no complete road closure expected with this work. While the roadway will remain open, the temporary lane shift will reduce the section of Union Street to a one-lane, two-way roadway during work.
Crews expect these final stages of work to be completed by 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, with work hours generally from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. each day this week.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during all work on our city’s infrastructure.
