Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the eaves of the home. Engine 2 made an interior attack and gained fire control quickly. While E2 was performing fire control Squad 2 did a victim search and did not find anything. Other fire crews performed overhaul and salvage. No one was injured. The cause of the fire was a log from the fireplace falling onto the floor and catching it on fire.
