Improved service on 4S bus route; new fare range for BCGo premium service.
The Battle Creek Transit team is excited to announce two service changes that will meet requests from our riders.
The first is on the 4S SW Capital bus route, which was split and detoured in October during the closure of the Capital Avenue SW bridge over I-94. This detour ends, and the 4S will return to regular route service, on Monday, Nov. 4.
Many riders enjoyed the increased service to Walmart and Meijer during the detour/split of this route, so the team has changed the route slightly to that the bus will stop at Walmart and Meijer every hour during bus service. This change requires bus service to the Target plaza be only via the stop on Beckley Road. Those currently using the stops located at Witmark Drive, ABC Warehouse, or Comcast will now need to use the stop located on Beckley, near the Target plaza entrance.
The second change is to our BCGo on-demand transportation service on weekends. In response to passenger and community input, BCGo fares now coordinate with locations in the service area, ranging from $5 to $15. This begins Saturday, Nov. 2.
The service area now has three zones, generally as follows:
- Zone 1 (white) – $5 – covers most of downtown Battle Creek; all three Family Fare stores (Columbia, West Michigan, and Capital NE); City Hall; Grace Health; Bailey Park; and the Battle Creek YMCA
- Zone 2 (blue) – $10 – Rolling Hills; the Beckley Road corridor; Walmart and Meijer; Harper Village; Beadle Lake; and the W.K. Kellogg Airport
- Zone 3 (pink) – $15 – Firekeepers Casino Hotel; Hickory Hills Village; St. Mary’s Lake; the Fort Custer Industrial Park; extends to the Kalamazoo County line
All fares are per person, per ride. More information on BCGo, including a fare zone map, and other Battle Creek Transit services, is available at www.battlecreekmi.gov/transit.
