The city is expected to receive a total $1.3 million in federal funding that is used to meet the housing and community development needs of low- and moderate-income residents and neighborhoods in Battle Creek.
The draft 2016 Annual Action Plan that explains the use of these federal Community Development Block Grant ($1.1 million) and HOME Investment Partnership ($210,000) funds is now available for public comment on the city’s website: www.battlecreekmi.gov/181/Community-Development.
The Annual Action Plan is the yearly update to the 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan, which analyzed community needs and planned strategic use of funds to address those needs.
Public hearings on the 2016 Annual Action Plan and the 2016 proposed Community Development budget will be held during the regular City Commission meeting on Tuesday, April 12, which begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 10 N. Division St.
Those who wish to make comments on the proposed budget or Annual Action Plan may speak at the public hearing or respond in writing by April 6 to:
