[ARCHIVED] Crosswalk to be painted Monday for October

color city logo2

A contractor will paint the crosswalks at the intersection of Capital Avenue NE and VanBuren Street East beginning Monday morning.

A city contractor will paint all four crosswalks at the intersection. Work is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, weather permitting.

The crosswalk art was approved for, and is funded by, the Michigan Heartbeat Coalition, for the month of October.  The crosswalk is scheduled to be returned to its typical paint scheme no later than Oct. 31.

Staff do not anticipate any lane closures during this work, but please be alert for potential pedestrian detours.  Contractors will not be in the crosswalk during busy times, such as the morning and evening commutes, or lunch hour.

Staff appreciate everyone’s patience during this work. Find information on the crosswalk art process, including the city right-of-way permit, at the city’s website, http://www.battlecreekmi.gov/407/Zoning-Development.
