Building conditions at 34 E. Michigan Ave.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City crews are on site at 34 E. Michigan Ave. to evaluate building conditions.

This afternoon, the city became aware of potentially dangerous conditions at 34 E. Michigan Ave. in downtown Battle Creek. Representatives from the city’s Police and Fire Department, Building Inspections, and Department of Public Works are on site assessing the situation to determine the appropriate course of action to maintain safe conditions.

Several businesses along E. Michigan Avenue have been evacuated as a precaution and a fencing perimeter is being established around the building to ensure the safety of businesses and individuals in the area.

The city is working with the property owner to determine next steps and will continue to monitor the situation.
