[ARCHIVED] Justice Center service drive closed for several days in next week or two

New Police Department building

Construction between the new Battle Creek Police Department and old building site will close the south entrance to the service drive into the Calhoun County Justice Center parking area on Thursday, Monday, and again during the next week or two.

The closure on Thursday is so crews can finish grading the parking lot and road. This service drive entrance is expected to be open Friday, May 3, but please watch for traffic interruptions from construction traffic.

The entrance will close again Monday, May 6, so crews can lay a base coat of asphalt. It will reopen Tuesday morning.

After that, closure for the topcoat of asphalt will be weather dependent; the ongoing rain has delayed this work. Please watch for potential closures in the next week or two, and use the service drive entrance north of the new police building when necessary, off North Division/M-66.

The entrance into City Hall from John Patterson Way will be open but, again, please be alert for delays due to construction traffic.

The site of the old BCPD will become a parking lot, with surrounding landscaping.

The parking spaces directly in front of the new police building also remain blocked for continued construction work. Visitors can park across Division Street in the Commerce Pointe parking lot, and use the traffic light and crosswalk to reach the PD building.

There is one handicapped parking space inside the fence at the east end of the police building – the end of the building where visitors find the 10 PD spaces. The sidewalk in front of the Police Department is accessible.

We appreciate everyone’s continued patience as we work through the final phases of work at this city facility campus.
