The City of Battle Creek is, once again, holding an online rain barrel sale, to encourage neighbors to collect and save valuable water in our community.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, lawn and garden watering make up nearly 40 percent of total household water use during the summer. Rain barrels collect water and store it for when you need it to water your garden or wash your car.
This sale is open to anyone – inside or outside city limits. Purchase rain barrels, composters, and accessories online at http://upcycle-products.com/battlecreekmi.html. Those interested also can purchase items by printing, completing, and submitting a mail-in order form, also available at the listed website.
Rain barrels are $56.50 each, and come in a variety of colors. Composter and accessory prices are listed on the website above.
Mail-in orders must be received by June 14 and online orders must be placed by June 18.
Pre-ordered items will be available for pickup from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, June 21 at the city’s Department of Public Works, 150 S. Kendall St. Someone can pick up your items in your place; please have them bring your payment receipt.
Saving water helps protect the environment and diverts water away from storm drains, decreasing the impact of runoff to streams.
