The emergency siren outside Westlake Elementary School, 1184 S. 24th St., has been sounding intermittently for short periods of time -- but there is no emergency.
Technicians are aware of and addressing the problem.
In a typical situation, the emergency sirens located around the city will sound for a minimum of three minutes if there is a tornado warning. Emergency management personnel also can make them sound for other weather emergencies.
Tests of the sirens are conducted at 1 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month. Those tests last for a minimum of three minutes.
We appreciate everyone's patience as this problem is addressed.
