The city’s Inspections Division wants to remind building professionals and area residents that the 2015 Michigan Residential Building Code takes effect today – Monday, Feb. 8.
While the code is typically updated on a three-year cycle, the last update was in 2009. The Michigan version is based on the 2015 International Residential Code, with additions and deletions for Michigan purposes.
The updated code will impact all new projects in the city as of today. The new code books will be available for purchase in City Hall Room 117, 10 N. Division St. It is also available online at www.michigan.gov/lara. Click on Construction Codes on the left side.
