[ARCHIVED] Code pre-trial hearings move to City Hall

City of Battle Creek logo

Beginning next Thursday, Jan. 7, building and housing code violation pre-trial hearings will now take place at City Hall, 10 N. Division St.

These pre-trial hearings previously have been held in the City Attorney’s Office at the Justice Center, Room J212.

The hearings now will take place in Room 117 at City Hall, the Code Compliance suite. The City Attorney’s Office has made this change to provide better customer service to those involved in the hearings; this will allow more convenience to those who need to obtain permits related to the work that brought the issue to the Attorney’s Office. This also will allow customers to obtain other necessary and related documents from Code Compliance and Assessing.

With the hearings moved to City Hall, those customers will be permitted to park in the City Hall lot.

Please note that this change is for the building and housing code pre-trial hearings ONLY. The criminal case pre-trial hearings will continue to be held at the Justice Center. Court notices will appropriately reflect these changes; the city and court will re-notice hearings as necessary starting with those set for Jan. 7.
