The 18-person committee tasked with considering potential changes to the city charter will meet again next Wednesday, Feb. 21.
The committee, established and appointed by the City Commission, will consider potential changes to the selection of mayor and vice mayor; the size of the commission; staggering of commissioner terms; length of commissioner terms; gendered charter language; and any other relevant issues.
At its first meeting, the committee decided to meet every two weeks, with upcoming meetings on March 7 and 21. All upcoming meetings start at 5:30 p.m. at the city’s Department of Public Works, 150 S. Kendall St. Meetings are open to the public.
The committee chose Joe Schwarz to serve as chairperson, and Terry Burleson as vice chair.
