[ARCHIVED] Work at railroad tracks to close McCamly next week

McCamly Street crossing with safety measures

Work to rebuild part of the median island south of the McCamly Street railroad tracks will close the road beginning Monday, Oct. 16.

The contractor will remove some concrete on the island and extend it closer to the railroad safety gates. The median is part of the safety upgrades made to the railroad crossing for the city’s quiet zone, three miles of track along which trains do not have to sound routine horns at crossings.

Work will take place approximately from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is expected to be complete by Wednesday, Oct. 18.

McCamly Street will be closed to thru traffic from Dickman Road to Hamblin Avenue, with a complete road closure right at the railroad tracks.

Detour signs will be in place, directing traffic to use Dickman, Capital Avenue SW, and Hamblin.

Officials appreciate everyone’s patience during this and all work.
