The city’s scrap tire collections in June didn’t fill the trailers, so officials will hold an extra collection in July.
A Michigan Department of Environmental Quality grant has made it possible for the city to provide the collections.
The extra collection will take place from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, July 8. It will end early if the trailer fills, so plan to arrive early. This will be held at the city’s Department of Public Works, 150 S. Kendall St.
This collection is open to the greater Battle Creek area. Neighbors in the cities of Battle Creek and Springfield, and the townships of Bedford, Emmett, Leroy, Newton, and Pennfield may bring tires to this event.
Only 10 tires per household, please. No rims, oversized, semi, truck, or tractor tires will be accepted.
There is also one more scrap tire collection coming up for anyone living within Calhoun County, also with a limit of 10 tires per household.
- Saturday, July 22 – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or when trailer is full
