DPW_Parking

Several projects and events around the city this weekend – Friday, June 2 to Sunday, June 4 – will have traffic impacts in the following areas.

Please use caution around all work and road closures. We appreciate everyone’s patience.

DPW parking lot work

Department of Public Works visitors on Friday should park along the driveway on the north side of the building, as a city contractor begins milling and grading.

Work will begin in the parking lot to the building, 150 S. Kendall St., at 7 a.m. on Friday. Work will last through the weekend and everyone should be able to park again in the main lot on Monday, June 5.

Those with appointments at the CareHere Health and Wellness Center, located on the south side of the building, will be directed to park at the back of the building. Signs will be in place. Public Works employees also will park in back of the building.

Bearcats graduate Friday

Battle Creek Central’s graduation ceremony will close several downtown streets from approximately 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday.

Generally, anyone not involved with the festivities should avoid the area of Central High School and C.W. Post Stadium.

Calhoun Street will be closed from College Street to the west; Champion Street will be closed from West Street to United Way; Glenwood Avenue will be closed; and West Street from Eagle Street south will be closed.

Elm Street quiet zone work

Canadian National Railway will continue work on Elm Street to complete that railroad crossing’s upgrades, as part of the city’s quiet zone, a three-mile section on which trains no longer have to sound routine horns on crossing approach.

The work will take place from 7 a.m. Saturday until approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The closure will be right at the railroad tracks, between Mary and Bennett streets, with detour signage posted.
