Large sewer inspections begin this week
BATILE CREEK, Mich. - Pipeline Management, a City contractor, will be starting work on Tuesday, March 28th, to inspect the City's larger-size sanitary and storm sewers. This will consist of cleaning and videotaping both storm and sanitary sewers sized 21" and larger. The work is part of a grant the City received from the Michigan Department of
Environmental Quality to help municipalities assess and rate their sanitary and storm sewer systems in order to develop an Asset Management Program.
Work will be performed over the next few months and will start in the Urbandale area and progress towards the downtown area.
The impact to residents will be minimal- all work will take place in the public rights-of-way, and roads will remain open; however, lane closures may be required during this work.
Another City contractor, Perceptive Services and Operations, is currently assessing the smaller sewers with a projected completion date sometime this summer.
Please be alert for crews if you see them while driving through the city. Officials appreciate everyone's patience during this and all work.
