[ARCHIVED] 2/2 UPDATE: Police investigating threat to Lakeview Schools

BCPD patch

UPDATE 2/2/17 -- Police continue to investigate this incident. The department received multiple tips today and are following those for any leads.

Battle Creek Police this morning are investigating an anonymous threat to the Lakeview School District, and asking anyone with information to contact police or Silent Observer

The threat was made at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday through the district's website. Police were notified at around 11:30 p.m. The threat read, "I am so sick of this s***. You better close school tomorrow or I'm going to shoot the place up."

Police officials are working closely with school administrators and the third-party company that manages the website. Police believe an email address was created to send the threat through the district's website contact form, and believe it may take several days to connect it to a suspect.

The district has closed schools for today and will provide activity updates via its website and Facebook page.

More information will be released as it's possible to do so. Officials did not anticipate releasing further information on Wednesday.

Anyone with information to share that may be relevant to this investigation should contact BCPD at 269-966-3322 or anonymously through Silent Observer, 269-964-3888.
