[ARCHIVED] Lifeguard classes set for 2017

Certification lasts two years through the YMCA of the USA.

Those age 16 and older looking for a summer job can sign up now for lifeguard training classes with the city’s Parks & Recreation Department.

Classes include lifeguard training, CPR, first aid, and oxygen administration training. Students will get an understanding of the aquatic environment and what it takes to be a lifeguard. Certification is through the YMCA of the USA and is good for two years.

Classes are $125 and are limited to 10 students per session. Sessions are held 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30-8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Session dates are:

  • Jan. 16-20
  • Feb. 13-17
  • March 13-17
  • April 10-14
  • May 1-5
