No further action was found necessary after Battle Creek Police Department officials investigated additional video footage of a traffic stop and arrest that appeared on social media.

Last Thursday, in the area of Washington Avenue and Emmett Street, officers stopped a driver they knew to have a suspended license and for whom they had a felony arrest warrant.

Video footage of the traffic stop was posted to several social media websites, calling out as inappropriate the officers’ treatment of the driver. Police were aware from previous contact that the driver suffered previous injuries resulting in his need for a walker and a cane.

After reviewing multiple sources of video and audio from the traffic stop, police determined that the officers acted appropriately for the situation. Police also have not received any formal complaints related to the incident.

Police consider the matter closed and do not anticipate releasing further information.
