A detour will be in place – starting today – for approximately five weeks while the railroad crossing on East Michigan Avenue, near Porter Street, is reconstructed.
The Michigan Department of Transportation Office of Rail is directing the work, by RailWorks Track Services, and which also includes reconstructing the intersection of Michigan and Porter.
East Michigan is now closed to traffic between Clair and Caine streets. The project is expected to be complete by Oct. 28.
The detour will direct traffic onto South Union Street, Capital Avenue NE, East Emmett Street, and Raymond Road.
While this work is happening, the city’s quiet zone contractor also will work on Michigan Avenue at the Canadian National crossing between Union and Porter streets. More information will become available when that work is set to begin.
We appreciate your patience during this and all work in our community.
