BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The State Street parking lot, located directly behind Rice’s Shoes and next to the parking lot designated for the future New Holland Brewing Company, will be closed beginning today, Friday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m., for asphalt and sidewalk replacement.

Work on the parking lot and sidewalk will result in the lot’s closure until Nov. 15, 2022. The sidewalk will also be closed to all pedestrian traffic during this same work period.

City crews will tear out and replace the existing asphalt, concrete curb, and sidewalk. This will be accompanied by updates to the electrical system in the same parking lot/sidewalk area.

Residents and customers are encouraged to be aware of this ongoing construction project and are urged to attempt to enter neighboring businesses from the Michigan Avenue entrances during the work period.

We appreciate everyone’s patience during all work on our city’s infrastructure.
