[ARCHIVED] Police arrest 18-year-old for drugs appearing as colorful vitamins

Baggie and individual colorful, vitamin looking pills. Shape looks like an animal face.

Battle Creek Police recently arrested an 18-year-old Battle Creek young man on charges related to his having colorful pills that look like children’s vitamins, but are presumed to contain meth.

The Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office is charging the young man with assault and battery, and possession of controlled substances analogue.

At 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, police investigated an assault complaint that happened at the Finish Line Laundry on East Columbia Avenue. They received a vehicle description as part of that investigation, and made a traffic stop on the possible vehicle involved.

The 18-year-old was driving the vehicle, and while investigating, police found several illegal narcotics. The Battle Creek Police lab tested a package of what appeared to be a colorful pill or vitamin, showing it to be presumptive for methamphetamine.

Police initially arrested the young man on charges of illegal narcotics and assault. The investigation continues, including follow-up identification of the pills.

Please be aware of pills like this, and children’s potential access to them. Contact police if you come across a suspicious or unknown substance like this.
