Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 146 Central St. Engine 2 and Car 3 arrived within five minutes to find fire and smoke showing from the basement, first and second floors of a two-story home. Engine 2 extended a hose line to extinguish the fire on the first floor and basement, while Truck 1 searched for any occupants. Car 3 assumed command. Engine 5 and Rescue 6 extinguished the fire on the second floor. Rescue 3 established a water supply and assisted with fireground operations. Squad 6 also assisted with fireground operations. No one was home at the time of the fire. The fire was under control within 30 minutes. No injuries reported. The fire is believed to have started in the basement. The cause is being investigated by the Fire Marshal.
