[ARCHIVED] Police investigate shooting death of 17-year-old

UPDATE 2:15 p.m. 7/12 - With his parents' permission, police have identified the victim who died in last night's shooting at Arbor Pointe Townhomes. He is Christopher Mark Williams, 17, of Battle Creek. He graduated last month from Battle Creek Cental High School.

Battle Creek Police are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old boy.

At about 11:55 p.m. Monday, Calhoun County Dispatch started receiving calls for multiple gunshots in the area of the Arbor Pointe Townhomes, located off Jackson Street W, near N 20th Street.

When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy who had been shot. He was taken to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital for treatment, but his injuries were too severe, and he died at the hospital.

Police continue to investigate, and have no additional information to share at this time.
