Other information: Battle Creek Fire Department responded at 11:36 a.m. to a structure fire at 95 Clark Street. Residents were in the kitchen when the electrical outlet caught fire. Everyone evacuated safely and called 911. Rescue 3 and Truck 1 arrived on scene to discover light smoke coming from the attic. Upon further investigation, crews discovered a small fire in the attic from the kitchen wiring. Both Rescue 3 and Truck 1 extinguished the fire and performed a primary search. Engine 2 performed roof ventilation, Squad 2 was assigned to Rapid Intervention Crew, Rescue 6 secured all utilities, Squad 6 assisted with safety, and Engine 5 performed secondary searches. Crews were on scene for approximately one hour. The cause of the fire was determined to be faulty wiring. One firefighter suffered a minor shoulder injury, and will seek followup health care on Monday; they are recovering at home.
