Earlier tonight Battle Creek Police asked for help to identify the driver of a vehicle that hit a young girl, who they believe was crossing the street in the area of Goodale and North avenues.
Police were called to the scene at 7:59 p.m. tonight. Police notified the girl's parents, and she was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As of about 9:40 p.m., police had located the vehicle/suspect, and they were cooperating.
Witnesses said the vehicle is a newer, dark red SUV, possibly with front-end damage, and damage underneath the vehicle. Police do not have any other vehicle information. Witnesses last saw the vehicle driving south on North Avenue.
Police continue to investigate.
