If you live in the City of Battle Creek, we want to hear which city services are most important to you, and how you define those services.
More than five years ago, the city first asked community members to name their top city service priorities. This process is part of Priority Based Budgeting, which helps the city address financial health and long-term wellness by prioritizing service goals based on community, staff, and city commission input.
The result of that community process was our eight city goals – called “results” in the PBB process. Each of those, including Economic Vitality and Governance, has a number of definitions that show how the city meets that goal. With a majority of new city commissioners, it is time to ask the community again about the most important services that we provide as a city. This process helps us continue to define why we exist, and how we serve our community.
We hope our community will engage with us by completing a survey, in two parts. First, we will ask you to choose your top city goals (results), or your top reasons our city government exists. Second, for each goal you chose, we will ask you to rate the importance of listed definitions of those goals, or what they mean to you.
We will report back to the community on the top priorities, and plan to hold (and live stream) a city commission workshop the evening of April 29.
