Battle Creek Police have identified a person of interest in the double homicide at Silver Star Apartments.
Fred Bissel, 62 and Jason Dush, 41 were found dead at the complex at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday by a third Silver Star resident. Police found signs of a struggle in the apartment.
While the cause of death is still pending, it appears both men were stabbed; police found multiple knives during the investigation.
Police identified the person of interest – an acquaintance of the victims – after reviewing video footage and interviewing witnesses. The person of interest already was in custody, on unrelated charges, in another location.
This is the only person of interest in this case, and police do not believe there are additional threats to the community. Police do not know the motive in this case.
Police continue to investigate, and anticipate submitting charges to the Calhoun County Prosecutor. No further information will be released at this time.
