Neighborhood Planning Councils
Click here to go to the Community and Neighborhood Resources DepartmentA Neighborhood Planning Council, or NPC, is a group of citizens from the same residential area who meet to discuss common issues which are causing concern in their area. Suggestions and information which members may have are shared with City Officials who can work with the councils to bring about desired changes. Any person who lives or owns property in a neighborhood council area may attend meetings, which are open to the public. Members are appointed by the City Commission. Anyone wanting to join a council should give his or her name to the chairperson of the council. His or her name will be submitted to the City Commission for approval and official appointment.
Each neighborhood council has its own meeting date each month. Meetings all start at 7:00 p.m. and run one to two hours. Meetings are often held in neighborhood schools or other areas. Questions about Neighborhood Planning Councils, meeting locations or membership may be directed to the City's Neighborhood Services Department (269)966-3379.
