DEVELOPMENT OF BATTLE CREEK TRANSIT
TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN (TMP)
Public transportation is vital to the future of the Battle Creek region. Battle Creek Transit is currently in the process of developing a Transportation Master Plan (TMP), which will help set service priorities for the next five years. The TMP will identify the strengths and weaknesses of the existing transit network, and highlight opportunities for service improvement and expansion. Community participation is vital to the success of the TMP.
Two public meetings will be held on March 12th and 13th to present potential service improvement scenarios based on a comprehensive analysis of existing services and feedback received from riders and non-riders through surveys and at the previous round of public meetings.
Whether you are an existing transit user or simply an interested citizen, we encourage you to attend one of the public meeting sessions to learn about the potential service improvements and share your views on how well each scenario meets the mobility needs of the Battle Creek community.
PUBLIC MEETING DATES, TIMES AND LOCATION:
Monday, March 12th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and
Tuesday, March 13th from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
These meetings will be held at the Department of Public Works (DPW), 150 S. Kendall Street, Battle Creek Michigan.
Battle Creek Transit will be extending regular bus service on March 12th until 9:15 p.m. to enable individuals to attend the public meetings. On both days, you can take any of the regular buses to the transfer center and catch the free shuttle bus to DPW for the public meeting. This shuttle will leave the transfer center by 5:20 p.m. on the 12th and by 12:20 p.m. on the 13th. After each public meeting, it will be back at DPW to transport you back to the transfer center so you may catch your bus back home.
If you reside in the Battle Creek area, but do not live near any of our bus routes and require transportation for either of these public meetings, please contact Battle Creek Transit’s dispatch office at (269) 966-3474 no later than March 8th to be added to the transportation list. We will contact these individuals on March 9th with details of travel arrangements.
