Master Plan / Comprehensive Plan

The city's Master Plan serves as our official guide for growth and development over the next 10 to 20 years. It is the "road map" detailing a long-term vision and policy agenda for important issues related to growth, development, land use, sustainability and design of public and private spaces.
The plan answers, "What should Battle Creek look like?" and, just as importantly, "How do we get there?"

Our most recent Comprehensive Plan/Master Plan was updated in 1997. You can view the 1997 Comprehensive Plan/Master plan here, in our archives.

Master Plan Update
Starting in the fall of 2015, Planning staff is organizing the update of our Master Plan. Houseal Lavigne Associates is the city's consultant for this process and is maintaining a project website (click on the graphic below to visit that website):

Visit that project website, linked from the flyer above, to participate in surveys, view documents and engage with a map, all part of our update process.

Thank you to all who attended our Neighborhood Planning Council meetings and the February 2016 Visioning Workshop. We're meeting new people and discussing a lot of great ideas and we are thrilled to have everyone's input.

Stay tuned for future public meetings as we continue this process - here, through the media, and through our social media.
